The kitchen photographed here by Ray Gardner at principal Line Kitchen blueprint characteristics the second policy. The white circumference cabinets with a black countertop with the black kitchen island with a white countertop are set off plus pulled together by the rich impartial gray of the feature wall.
This Silver Leaf insides project — an off‐white kitchen with midtone wood floors as well as a beige, brick‐like backsplash — is a good example of Groenier's first strategy: letting the finishes balance one another.
Designer tip: In deciding whether to pick a bold color or a neutral, Groenier advocates that you consider how much wall area there is to paint. "If you had a large wall almost like a blank canvas in–conjunction with you wanted to accent that wall, that shall make sense," she says. "If you had a thin little strip like between a doorway together with a cabinet, that would be disconnected — it might not make any visual sense."
